With a little water…

Do you recall me sharing my little sunflower that I thought initially was a weed?

She got a little bigger.

And made lots of babies.

We’ve had lots of rain here and lots of rain makes sunflowers feel happy and fed. It’s amazing how much you can thrive and blossom with lots of nurturance and lots of what you need. We are very much the same!

Lots of crankiness in the world–we need this

I am noticing a lot of crankiness and hot tempers in the world lately. It’s probably the unusual heat plaguing areas not used to it (we’re used to it) that is upsetting everyone’s Pitta. Last week I related to it, as I was hormonally challenged, so I do understand. But we do need more light to fill up that darkness. It’s too easy to get lost in it and then we think we are the dark parts! So, I bring you this:

Aren’t they pretty? Nothing cheers my soul like finding a pretty flower in my yard I didn’t know was there!

And this! Finding a face on the rock elder beneath my feet.

A stray butterfly flying by my head brings me such joy; such delicate beauty.

You see, lots of yuck can happen in your world. Believe me I KNOW. But there is a small little part in our heart that survives, and it notices the beauty and the wonder in the world. It loves the everyday magic in the passing butterfly. It’s like a good seed planted there, and everyday we are handed bad seeds to grow–through the media, other people, life.  I say,

NURTURE THE HELL OUT OF THOSE GOOD SEEDS!

Reminds me that one acorn can grow an oak tree. Just one!

(You will have to excuse me. I have just finished watching a marathon watching of MY NEIGHBOR TOTORO and I’m feeling quite nice.)

Roses you are attracted to are meant just for you

“I wanted to know if experimenting with making my own essences from roses I picked would be just as powerful. I found out that these essences were just as effective and even more tailored for me and my family. I was told that the roses I was attracted to and that came into my life were the right energies for me. So, the roses you are attracted to, are perfect for you!”

My First Flower Essence

It’s Friday which means Fairy Online School Friday and that means excerpts. This is the intro to my Flower Essence or FEC100 class that starts today (sign ups until midnight)

My First Flower Essence.

I met my first flower essence years back at the same time I met my former Reiki teacher. She was a nurse who migrated into the world of Reiki Healing. After giving me a treatment on the table, she whipped out her trusty pendulum and positioned it over a bunch of bottles before her on a little table.

“You need this one,” she said, and thrust the little bottle into my hands.

Oh no,” I protested. “I am allergic and sensitive to everything.”

You’ll like this,” she insisted.

I stared at it.

What do I do with it?” I was mildly curious.

Just place a few drops from the bottle under your tongue, twice a day. You’ll see. It will really help.”

I brought the little bottle home with me to bond. The label said BUTTERCUP, and it was indicated for healthy self-worth. As a child, I loved picking buttercup flowers and placing them under my chin to see my chin turn yellow. It was a magic flower.

I stared at that bottle for at least two weeks. I don’t know what I expected. I’ve experienced in different healing modalities that have been too strong for me, I paid with too strong emotional or physical reactions later.

After those two weeks, I couldn’t take it anymore. I took a few drops and waited for either my transmutation into a werewolf or some other creature, or for nothing to happen. The effects were subtle at first. I felt a boost of warmth and then happy thoughts came through my mind of feeling loved and good. “Not bad,” I thought. This isn’t terrible. I can survive this.”

Day two brought up some uncomfortable feelings of what issue or beliefs were blocking my self-worth at that time. It wasn’t overwhelming insight, just mind-opening and shift-making, and I could feel the buttercup supporting me as I went through this process.

By day five, I had made a definite shift in my perception of myself, and those awful beliefs were dropping away.

 I was hooked.

Unexpected Magic in the Garden

I thought she was a weed. I called her my little tree and didn’t pull her. She kept growing. And then a little flower peeked out.

She’s Ronni-size now. In the middle of the rock lawn, where I didn’t plant a thing, she emerged.

She moves towards the sun, and she is teaching me to be on the lookout for unexpected magic.

Mulberry Tree’s Loving Embrace

The Mulberry trees in my fairy yard are HUGE this summer and seem very happy. They need haircuts, though.

I can sit under the Mulberry tree and he feels like a big umbrella covering me.

I asked the tree for permission and made an essence from his leaf. The healing pattern of this tree is of strength and endurance. Gives you the feeling of dusting off your pants, standing up, and able to keep going when you feel discouraged and drained.

I invited Emma to come sit with me under the tree. She had to move from her cushy outdoor puppy bed. So spoiled.

Totally dig the Mulberry essence, and look forward to sitting under the tree’s leaves often this summer.  It’s available in my Essence store here.

In the Yard and Non-Negotiables

This week I explore my non-negotiables.

What’s a non-negotiable? I’ve been learning from my backyard. When I rented my Fairy Castle, it was the yard that I fell in love with. I dig roses and there’s quite a few, including the kind that smell really good. This backyard is like a little park I can sit in with my Emma Lou and swing back and forth as we admire the beauty.

When I water the plants, I watch their little leaves reach upwards in a smile. When I forget, in the inhospitable Arizona heat, I will find leaden leaves and a definite frown. It’s simple, but I am those plants. When I nurture and feed me, I pump up with color. I’m a shiny, happy thing. When I forget to water me, well…

But here’s the thing. I’ve taken in through my adult life some seriously faulty beliefs–that messed-up perception I talked about in my last post. It’s taken awhile and lots of work, but I am seeing those beliefs that include:

only when I make enough money will I deserve to have some rest

only when I give what others want will I have support

only when I work 80 hours a week and show I’m responsible will I get a pat on the head and what I need

Yuck!!! I am seeing that none of these beliefs work for me. I am sure you have some ONLYs in your brain swirling around. These need to be pulled! And in their place, I plant my non-negotiables.

In order to thrive as a Ronni plant, I need those non-negotiables. Having this yard and visiting Indian Gardens frequently I realize with certainty I MUST have constant interaction with Nature. It’s not lazy or irresponsible to take time out in Nature. On the contrary, I find it’s productive: I’m balanced and less emotional or reactive to other people’s stuff when I have time in the yard or the forest. It also feeds my creativity and my curiosity, which becomes many classes and books.

And in my usual, creative, visual fashion, I’ve been creating a chart to keep track of my non-negotiables (each drawn into a circle) as they come along. (To see it, Go Subscribe to My Newsletter.)

If I follow this line of thought, I also look at what waters me and what doesn’t. Translated, this means, what supports me and what doesn’t? Where do I feel SEEN, HEARD, SUPPORTED and APPRECIATED? Where do I feel ignored and forgotten, unimportant, or even poisoned? Let’s not focus on those weeds, just pull em’ out!

What are your non-negotiables and where do you feel watered?
