Recently, I was gifted with a free copy of the 8 Keys: A Special Delivery Message from the Angels by Linda West with Karen Miller Gibbs to review.
As many of you know, although I am mostly fairy, I have a special connection to the Angels. For some reason, I attract many, many clients and students who are angel readers or are angels incarnated, so I was anxious to read this book and share it as a resource. And when I flipped through the book, there were strong synchonicities I couldn’t miss, such as her adopted daughter’s name is Jessica (but her story turned out, much much better), so I knew I was meant to read it.
What are the 8 keys given by the Angels that can “change your life, resolve life-long conflicts, remove negativity and attract positive energy?”
The keys are simple enough on the surface that include Love, Forgiveness, Trust and Humility. I often hate spiritual books that state formulas that mention the obvious, but this book is different. Linda’s story is told throughout in raw vulnerability that has you feeling you know and relate to her as a person, which pulls you deeper into the book. She shares intimately in a very down-to-earth, “everywoman” style how these simple keys applied in her own life and changed her perspective to a higher one, and therefore, how we can do the same. As readers, we want to see and know examples, and how they can relate to us.
And do note, there are angel experiences and stories and Linda does address how her Angels communicate to her–more subtle signs than burning bushes–which will allow you to recognize how your own Angels communicate. This book does not offer a how-to communicate with your Angels, but offers more of a way to live your life.

The true treasure I found were several lines that came through that were quickly dog-eared for myself, loved ones and clients. These were messages from the Angels directly hidden among the pages:
- About struggle: “…because it is your ego that keeps you pounding your head against the brick wall. And after a while that pounding just gives you a headache. You know, it’s not the brick wall giving you the headache. It’s your relentless need to pound against it. Give it up. Let it go.”
- “I thought I had to settle, give up something I loved in order to have something I needed. We do not need to settle, ever. When we honor ourselves and our needs, the whole universe supports what we do. It is up to us to realize what we deserve and want.”
- This quote was one to really ponder, “It’s supposed to be simple and it’s supposed to be easy.” Hmmm.
I don’t know exactly how I will apply the 8 Keys on my journey now. I do know what you are meant to receive from reading this book, you will walk away with having. Many of the keys were good reminders for me to stay on the higher path, and in a pinch, I will grab for one of the affirmations strewn throughout the book.
The only negative reaction I had was more of a style preference. As many of you know, I am one that writes quickly and simply with not a great deal of words, and my Guides appear to be the same. There was a great deal repeated, and my short attention span felt there was too much to read which could have been pared down considerably. Again, that is my preference.
And, I am still pondering the similarity with the daughter thing…I will have to check in with my Angels about that.
